Youth Group

Sundays 5:50pm — 8:00pm

Last year in youth group, we started a semi-split of the junior and senior high.  This semi-split allowed for separate lesson / discussion times, as well as free times.  However, the entire group is still together for a time of announcements, prayer and worship.  In addition, the entire group is together for game time.  This has worked well and will continue as our youth group model for this year.

Lesson Time: The youth lesson time is based upon our yearly theme, “The Hands & Feet of Christ.”  Using this theme, Pastor Chris leads the youth by discussing issues of what it means to be the hands & feet of Christ in the lives of the people that God has given us influence over.  The lessons incorporate creative means, including video, skits, hands-on experiences, discussions, and more.  The lessons go beyond theory into practical applications.  Come out to youth group and learn and experience what it means to be used by God.

 Discussion Time: During our lesson time there is normally a time for discussion and self-discovery.  During these times, our youth staff facilitate discussions and participate in helping students discover Biblical truths, as well as life-changing applications and skills.  These discussion times are meant to get students into the Word of God, where true transformation can take place.  We truly believe that when we come face-to-face with the truths of God’s Word, His Spirit challenges our beliefs and ideas and slowly helps us see how we are the hands and feet of Christ.  Discussion allows us to discover this together.

Combined Times: There are two times when the youth are combined.  The first is a time of announcements and prayer.  This time also has times of worship, led by our youth worship team and our Youth Worship Coordinator, DeLynn Bryan.  During this time, we lift God up by worshiping through fellowship, prayer, and music.  The second combined time is in Huston Hall for games, led by our Game Coordinator, Andrew Bryan.  This is always a great time to challenge students and practice serving ideas through the way we interact with one another.

Free Times: There are two free times during each evening, one for each group.  While one group meets for lesson, the other group has a free time to talk, meet with staff members about issues in life, or enjoy various games available in the Youth Game Room and Conference Room #1.  Youth can enjoy Ping-Pong, Foosball, Darts, Air-Hockey, and a variety of board and card games.  This is a wonderful time to build relationships!

Summer: Over the summer, youth group is held @ Pastor Chris & Joy Garland’s House located @ 807 W. Kings Hwy, C’Ville, from 6pm -9pm. The dates for when the summer semester of youth group starts will be announced.
